Surrounded by a physical nature, we are only part physical existence. We also have a spiritual, non-physical existence. To capture a glimpse of this is the greatest of challenges for the professional photographer. In addition to the prerequisite technical skill set, the portrait artist must have a sincere desire to see beyond the superficial physical imperfections and into the essence of the individual. While at the same time we must show respect for individual characteristics and imperfections that make us human. It is only this, the ability to capture the physical and spiritual uniqueness of the subject within a lasting work of art...that qualifies one as a portrait artist.

At Unicorn Photographics we are principally a husband and wife team dedicated to helping you capture unique, treasured and very special moments that you can enjoy and remember over a lifetime. For over 30 years we each have enjoyed photographing the places and people around us. As traveling photojournalists, we use professional cameras and experience to capture the visual reality of the world as we find it.

Some photography studios may rush you in front of the camera and fire a quick sequence of shots. This may fail to capture you at your best.

We have learned it is only through the time spent with you before the actual portrait session that we may reach a better understanding of your wants, needs and of who you are as individuals. After a brief interview before we schedule your portrait session, we will visit with you to get a good understanding of your needs and wants.

For our portraiture clients, we use artistic composition and posing techniques to express the deeper understanding of your individuality that may include aspects of your hopes, dreams and the essence of you and your family as they are experienced in the fleeting moments of here and now.

For what purpose will the portraits be used? Are they for you personally, to share with your family or friends, or for use as a business/executive portrait, for advertising/media use, or for special events?)

Where will be portraits be displayed...in the home, at the office? Are you considering a wall mount, or just framed for a desk. Will placement be in your gallery, or to be used in greeting cards, business cards, etc?)

Note about the unedited proofs on this website. If you choose to purchase any of these prints, they will first be forwarded to us to be reviewed, retouched and then printed. The images you see here are not therefore, final versions. (i.e., the final will be better than what you see here.)
